This
coaching session was very instructive. I have realized that as human beings and
students every one of us is confronted to the feeling of stress. It’s not an
easy topic to talk about because I was considering it as a weakness, but I realized
that being surrounded by people with who I work and established a connection
the conversation went really smoothly. So as I was a coachee, I even enjoyed
giving my point of view to my coach. She was very helpful, sharing her
experience with me and just the fact to talk about that stomach pain was kind
of a relief.
As an
observer I had the opportunity to understand that my colleges were concerned
about that topic as much as I am, and that they really wanted to improve their
skills in managing their time in order to be less stressed at the same level as
me. In my opinion, the three of us came with some stress to this session but
when we started, the feeling ran away. The stress was due, for me, to some
expectations that I put on myself in order to be satisfied with the session.
When I had
to play the role of the coach I was stressed! Yes I was because I knew that
this topic was something very important for my coachee and I really wanted to
help her in this exercise. I think that I succeed in this task. We were able to
really have a deep conversation and I asked her questions that helped her in
realizing that it’s ok to say “no”. I was really happy. Of course it’s only the
first step, but I hope that it touches something in her and that she will be
able to practice it. It’s not an easy thing to make people realize that they
need to focus more on their person while you in person are not really good in
that domain! We also shared tricks. This point was very nice, because every one
of us is having her only little thing that is making her going on, and by
sharing them I was able to make a retrospective on myself and really realized that
what I was doing for myself was really helping me. Thanks’ to that coaching
session I also decided that I will retake some Yoga classes, who knows maybe it
will help me better than the first class I attemptedJ.
In fact the
whole session was a success. Every one of us was able to open themselves to
each other and I felt that there was a real connection between us. In my
opinion, we opened ourselves a little bit more on a personal level and that
kind of conversation really helps. We still are a little bit of strangers, but
less than at the first session. We know something more about each other, and as
a team I think that we are going to be able to work out our stress, by
supporting one and other in some difficult situations.
